CU Lacrosse Announces 2010 Schedule

The University of Colorado men's lacrosse team announced their schedule for the upcoming 2010 season. The schedule will be highlighted by a game against Colorado State on Invesco Field, as well as the other three semifinalists from last year’s national championships (Michigan, Chapman and Brigham Young).

The Black and Gold begins the campaign at home against New Hampshire on March 5th, followed by Simon Fraser on the 7th of March. This is the first time that CU has faced either opponent and will provide a difficult first test for the Buffalo.
"I am eager to face off against so many great teams this upcoming spring," said new head coach Pete Stevenson. "We have all of our traditional rivalries set to go as well as the team that knocked us out of the playoffs last year (Michigan) and potential contenders in Chapman and Simon Fraser."

The following weekend will find the Buffalo in Saint Louis to face off against the Lions of Lindenwood and the Hurricanes of Miami (FL) on successive nights. After returning home the Buffalo have a week off before starting out conference play against Utah on March 22nd.

The rest of the spring break trip will be spent in Southern California pitting CU verses Loyola Marymount and Chapman on the 24th and 26th respectively.

The team will have a week to prepare for the game against the Rams from Colorado State being played as part of a series of games in Mile High Stadium. "The chance to play in such a great venue against the team from up North will be an exciting event," Coach Stevenson said. "With such great turnouts in the past, this is the game of the year. Biggest rival plus biggest venue plus biggest crowd gives us extra motivation to perform well on this day."

The Buffaloes have a week to prepare for the 2 time defending champs coming to Boulder for Alumni Weekend on the 9th of April. Michigan comes in to the season the team to beat, having won the last two MCLA titles. After the Friday night battle with the Wolverines, the Black and Gold will have 36 hours to prepare for the Bulldogs from Minnesota-Duluth. Colorado defeated the Bulldogs in last year’s national championship, giving this weekend a nice MCLA championship feel.
The following Saturday the Spartans from Michigan State come into Boulder for a game that will be played on Folsom Field following the spring football game. CU will look to avenge its loss to MSU last year in Lansing, giving the larger crowd and great field a great game to stick around for.

CU finishes the season with three conference opponents in Wyoming (April 20th, Laramie), Utah State (April 23rd, Boulder), and Brigham Young (April 26th, Boulder). That will give the team very little turn around before the conference tournament in Provo, Utah on April 30th.

"The schedule gives us at least ten ranked opponents and a wide variety of teams to help us prepare to build on what the team did last year," stated Coach Stevenson. "Being a part of the RMLC gives us some great match ups and with so many great home games this year, we have a schedule that allows us to have a successful season with a first year head coach."
