Greeley, CO (Feb 25, 2010) In the words of assistant Mike Ryder, “There has been
nothing but anticipation for this day since last lacrosse season. No matter
where we all were last year there is always an excitement to beginning a new
season of lacrosse.”
The University of Colorado Men’s Lacrosse team opened up
their preseason with a bang defeating the University of Northern Colorado 13-2
late Wednesday night. The Buffaloes dominated all facets of the
game, getting 34 shots on goal, a 78% faceoff percentage and a .913 save
percentage.
“I
thought that we looked good in every aspect of the game,” says coach Pete
Stevenson. “We scored in every situation
tonight, six on six, riding, clearing, and man up. Defensively, holding them to
0 for 8 on man up was great and the goalie play tonight was amazing. Winning
that many face offs was fantastic and led to so many great things for us. “
Freshman Doug Lilburne highlighted the Buffs night putting
up 4 goals alongside junior James “AJ” Blackburn’s 3. Scores were also credited by Tyler Snyder,
Kyle Driver, Josh Albrecht, Witt Harlan, and Alex Puldy.
Should this be any indication of the future, Colorado will
have no trouble returning to the top of the RMLC. Until then, there are still 2 tune-up games
still to play versus Colorado College and the School of Mines. They will wrap up the preseason four days
before opening at home against New Hampshire March 5th.
