| Seminoles Win Back-and-Forth Battle By: Scott Cunningham; Public Relations, CU Lacrosse Duluth, GA (March 28, 2009) - After two big road wins for the Colorado Buffaloes, they could not come out on top of a slugfest with the nations 6th ranked Florida State Seminoles.
In a game that saw six ties and six lead changes, the buffs dropped their fourth game in six chances and fell 9-7 to FSU on a soggy Northview High School field in Duluth, GA.
CU scored first, 90 seconds into the game, and the Noles evened the game two and a half minutes later - that would be the first of four first-half ties. It looked like the Buffs would take a 4-3 lead into half time before an FSU goal tied it at 4-4 with 3.1 seconds left in the second period.
Florida State opened the second-half scoring to take a 5-4 lead before Colorado would reel off three unanswered scores within three and a half minutes to make the game 7-5 in favor of the Buffaloes with four minutes to play in the third quarter.
Though the Buffs showed that they can compete with anybody, Florida State also showed why it is ranked #6 in the country. The Seminoles put four goals past the Buffs’ goaltender over the remaining course of the game, the nail in the coffin coming with three minutes left that would make the final score 9-7.
Colorado must shake off another tough loss and get back to work before they travel to Provo, Utah opening Rocky Mountain Lacrosse Conference play against Brigham Young University on April 3rd.
Game Notes: Colorado had two goals each from A.J. Blackburn and Josh Albrecht, while Darren Hulick, Joel Packer, and Dane Mueller had one score apiece.
